Scotch egg

1   Hard-boiled egg 6

     Maida ¼ cup

2   Chopped onion 1 cup

     Chopped green chili 1 tsp

3    Finely chopped ginger 1 small piece

      Finely chopped meat ½ kg

      Vinegar 1 tsp

      Salt to taste

4     Garam masala 1 tsp

5     Mashed potatoes 1 cup

6     Bread (soak slices in water, ½ cup

       squeeze out water and crushed)

7     Egg yolk 1

8     Beaten egg white 1

9     Bread crumbs ¼ cup

10    Oil as desired


Dip the hard-boiled egg in maida and keep aside. Sauté the second ingredients when the oil is hot. Then add the third ingredients. Water oozing out of the meat will cook the meat. See to it that it does not form lumps. Add garam masala just before removing from fire.

Then add the fifth, sixth and seventh ingredients and roll it out. Dip it in beaten egg white and then in bread crumbs. Cover the egg in this cutlet crust and fry in hot oil.
