Ingredients

Black gram (urad daal) 1 cup

Small onion 4

Green chili 4

Ginger (1-inch piece) 2

Crushed pepper 12

Salt to taste

Preparation

Cut small onion and green chili into round pieces. Finely chop ginger. Soak urad daal in water for 6 hours. Drain out the water and grind to a paste. Add the rest of the ingredients to this. Apply a little oil on the palm of the hand and make small balls out of this. Flatten them out into vada. Heat oil in a pan and put these vada into it and fry till golden brown. Serve hot with coconut chammanthi.
