Ingredients
01. Urad dal – 1 cup
02. Pori  kadala - 1 cup
03. Roasted rice powder- 3 cups
04. Salt – to taste
05. Chilli powder –  2 tsp
06. Asfoetida powder – 1 tsp
07. Coconut oil – ½ kg
Preparation
01. Roast the urad dal till brown.
02. Heat the pori kadala till warm.
03. Powder both together and add it to the rice powder.
04. Mix the three powders well and strain it through a sieve.
05. Now add the salt, chilly powder and asafoetida powder and mix well.
06. Add water and knead it till it is thick.
07. Now press this dough through a perforated idiyappam maker and squeeze the dough strings into hot oil.
08. Deep fry till crisp.
09. Drain the oil, cool and store in air-tight containers.
